The stream is the first thing learners see when they open the platform. When it looks the same month after month, they stop looking.
Keeping it fresh takes very little time, and no new content.
Signs your stream needs a refresh
Look at your stream the way a learner would. What do you see?
These are the most common signs:
learners see the same content week after week
content they already finished is still the first thing they see
a campaign that ended months ago is still front and centre
important content sits below things learners have already done
If learners keep seeing the same thing, they stop looking, and eventually they stop coming back to the platform.
They also stop noticing their own progress, and that shows up in your completion and engagement figures.
Four ways to clean it up
None of this means making new content. You can do all of it with what is already on your platform.
Go to Behaviour > Stream to make these changes.
Remove widgets for content that is finished or out of date
Move what matters now to the top by dragging the widget up
Swap the content inside a widget, or change the widget type for a different look
Mix the widget types so the page does not look the same all the way down
✏️ Tip
Taking something away is often the best edit you can make. Every widget you remove gives the others more attention.
Make it a habit
The stream is built to change. Treat it as something you update through the year, not something you set up once.
Good moments to check it:
when a campaign or programme finishes
when you launch something new
at the start of a new quarter
A review like this takes a few minutes. Set a recurring reminder in your calendar so it does not slip.
Recap
By now you should be able to:
spot the signs that your stream needs a refresh
remove, move, swap, and mix widgets to freshen it up
pick a regular moment to review it
Is it one specific activity rather than the whole stream?
Want to add something new to the stream?
