Platform access settings define whether access to the platform is managed (through admins and/or integrations), open (everyone can register), or closed.

⚙️ Where to change platform access

Admins can edit platform access in Settings > General.

  • In the section "Platform access", you can toggle access with:

    • Open

    • Managed

    • Closed

🔑 Platform access types

Managed platform

If your platform is set to Managed, you can add your learners:

Open platform

Open platforms allow anyone to register and access content. ✅ Content can be shared externally via public links.

Why use it:

  • Great for growing your learning community

  • Anyone can preview content and self-register

  • Visitors can see up to 3 templates before registering

Important:

On open platforms, an activity can be set to "private" in the activity details if you don't want to let unregistered users preview it.

🧩 Feature setup for open platforms

If you set the platform access to Open, you’ll need to configure additional settings under Settings > Features.

  1. Go to Settings > Features

  2. Find and enable Hide registration fields and click the settings button

  3. Select the fields

    1. Email (mandatory):

      • Visible

      • Required

    2. Last name (optional)

    3. First name (optional)

Closed platform

When your platform is set to Closed, no one can register or access the platform unless they’ve already been added by an admin.

Why use it:

  • Ideal during initial setup or testing phases

  • Ensures only invited users can see the platform

  • Prevents any external or self-registration access
