The Journeys widget lets you show several learning journeys in a single section of the platform. It’s ideal for giving users a clear overview of available journeys, like onboarding phases, learning paths, or optional development tracks.
What it does
This widget displays a selection of journeys in tiles, shown either in slide or grid layout, depending on what you choose during setup. It gives learners a clean overview of available journeys without overwhelming them.
Use it to:
Group all onboarding journeys in one place
Promote optional or role-specific learning paths
Organise content around themes like leadership or compliance
Setting Up the Journey Slider Widget
Go to Behaviour > Stream
Click the + icon to add a new widget
Select Journeys from the widget list
Enter an internal name (for admin use only)
Add a header that learners will see above the widget
Select the journeys you want to include
Choose a tile layout (how the journeys are visually arranged)
Click Add widget to save
Create an automation unlocking the widget to limit it to the right users.
✨ New: journeys from a programme
You can now also add a journey that sits inside a programme. Learners go straight to that journey from the stream, without opening the programme first.
The programme's locking and unlocking rules still apply, so you stay in control of when learners see each journey.
🔥 Important
A widget without an enabled unlock automation is shown to every learner, so the automation is what limits the widget to an audience. If you switch off the only automation that unlocks the widget, everyone will see it.
A journey slider only shows a learner the journeys in it they have access to. A learner who has access to none of them sees an empty slider or no slider at all. The stream loads 20 widgets at a time, so a widget further down appears when the learner scrolls.
Whether a journey without an automation is available depends on one setting, Control > Settings > Features > Hide modules and journeys without rules. Check it on your platform, because the date your platform was created does not decide this.
With the setting off, an activity that sits in no journey and no automation is assigned to every user and appears under Other in My progress. A journey without an automation opens as an empty page and does not appear in My progress or in search, whatever the setting, because its activities get no assignment through it. An activity inside such a journey also counts as being without an automation, unless the journey is unlocked with Unlock all activities ticked.
With the setting on, that same activity is assigned to nobody and the journey is not shown at all.
