A widget in the stream is only a container, so without an enabled unlock automation every learner can see it. Here is how to set up an automation that limits it to the right audience, the fast way and the manual way.

If you switch off the only automation that unlocks a widget, everyone will see it again. To keep a widget from everyone, keep an enabled automation on it that matches nobody, or remove it from the stream.

Method 1: Start from the widget (recommended)
The fastest way to create a widget automation is directly from the widget itself.
Go to Behaviour > Stream
Click the + button next to the widget you want to unlock
The platform automatically adds a clear automation name and pre-selects the event type
Click Save. The action is already pre-filled as Unlock widget: [name of widget]
Add your condition, for example Is group â Belgium
Click Save and enable the automation
âď¸ Why this is the better route
The action is pre-filled and already linked to the right widget. Fewer clicks, fewer chances to link the wrong thing.
Method 2: Build it from widget settings
Useful if you are already deep in a widget's settings and do not want to jump back to the stream.
Go to Behaviour > Stream
Click the widget you want to unlock, for example Module 1, Belgium
Scroll to Applied automations
Click Create automation. You will land in Behaviour > Automations
Click + Create automation and set it up manually:
Add a title
Choose the event type
Add the condition
Add the action: Unlock widget [name of widget]
Save and enable the automation

This method needs the action added by hand. Forget to select "Unlock widget", and the automation does not limit your widget, so everyone keeps seeing it.

Either way, the widget is only step one. You still need a second automation to unlock the content sitting inside it. Activities work the same way.
