This article shows you, step by step, how to add a widget to the discovery stream and configure it so learners see the right content in the right place.
For a full overview of the available widgets, please check out this article!
Learning objectives
By the end of this article, you will be able to:
Add a new widget to the discovery stream
Select and configure the right type of widget for your content
Arrange widgets in the stream for a clear learner flow
Step 1: Go to the stream
In the platform, go to Behaviour > Stream.
You will see the stream overview, which shows all the widgets currently visible to learners.
Step 2: Add a new widget
In the stream overview, click the + icon.
This opens the list of available widgets you can add.
You will find several types, for example:
Spotlighted activity: highlights one key activity at the top.
Journeys: shows a full learning journey in one container.
Step 3: Configure the widget
Once you select a widget type, you need to configure it:
Name: give the widget a clear name so you can identify it later (for example, Core activities).
Content: choose the activity, journey, or programme you want the widget to display. You can add more than one if needed.
Super title (optional): add a title that learners will see above the widget.
Tile layout: decide how the content tiles will appear to learners:
Slide: learners swipe through activities horizontally.
Grid: activities appear in a grid format on the page.
When finished, click Add widget.
Step 4: Arrange the stream
After adding, your widget appears in the stream overview.
💡 Tip
You can drag and drop widgets to reorder them. This lets you shape the learner’s path through the discovery stream.
Important
Every activity, journey, or programme needs to be placed inside a widget to appear in the stream.
The stream only controls where content is shown, not who sees it. You still need automations to unlock widgets and the content inside them.
Recap
By now, you should be able to:
Navigate to the stream and add a new widget
Configure the widget with a name, content, and optional super title
Reorder widgets in the stream to control the learner flow
Remember that automations are still required to make content visible
