Streaks: how to set up and manage them

New to the feature? Start with the article on how streaks work and why they drive engagement 👉 All about streaks

Turning on streaks

First, you need to enable streaks on your platform:

  1. Go to Settings > User progress and achievements > Streaks

  2. Click the enable button

Once streaks are enabled, you get a new tab under "Behaviour". Refresh the page to see the tab.

The streak presets

Go to Behaviour > Streaks, there you get seven badges as a preset.

This means that they are ready to go straight away! The presets build up gradually so learners have both quick wins early on and longer term goals to work towards:

  • Three's a trend! at 3 login days

  • Lucky seven! at 7 login days

  • Two weeks strong! at 14 login days

  • Monthly master! at 30 login days

  • Halfway hero! at 50 login days

  • Almost there! at 75 login days

  • Century club! at 100 login days

Editing a streak badge

The presets work well as they are, so you can leave them untouched if you want. You can also edit the streak badges. You can change the:

  1. Title and translations

  2. Number of logins to be awarded the streak badge

  3. Badge image

Streak badge images

Every streak badge uses two images:

  • Badge image (incomplete) is shown before the learner earns the streak badge

  • Badge image (completed) is shown once the streak badge is awarded

Both come with a preset image, so you can leave it as it currently is. If you want the badges to match your own visual style, upload your own.

Supported formats:

  • PNG

  • JPG / JPEG

  • GIF

Maximum file size: 1 MB per image.

What happens when you change the number of logins

Changing the number of logins for a badge has an immediate effect on learners, and it works in both directions.

If you increase the number of logins

Learners who no longer meet the new requirement lose the streak badge.

For example, a badge is awarded at 3 logins and you change it to 5. Every learner with fewer than 5 login days has that streak badge revoked.

If you lower the number of logins

Learners who already meet the new requirement receive the streak badge straight away.

For example, a streak badge is awarded at 5 logins and you change it to 3. Every learner with 3 or more login days gets the badge immediately.

Where learners see their streaks

Learners find their streak next to their profile, marked with a small flame icon.

Clicking the flame opens their streak overview, which shows:

  • Their current streak and how many login days they still need for their next badge

  • A progress bar towards that next badge

  • All the streak badges, so they can see what they have earned and what is still ahead

  • A monthly calendar with a flame on every day they logged in
