You can export total training time data for all users to get insights into learning engagement and progress. This is especially useful for third-party funded training.

Use this data to track user activity, report to stakeholders, and make informed decisions about your learning strategy.

πŸ’‘ Training time is based on the set duration of completed activities, defined in Control. It does not reflect the actual time spent on the platform.

Adjusting activity duration

By setting an estimated duration, you give learners a sense of how long an activity will take. This helps manage expectations and supports motivation. It’s also valuable for admins reviewing the effectiveness of different learning formats.

Step 1. From the Content > Activities tab in Control, find the activity you want to adjust.

Step 2. Hover on the activity and then on "Edit" button.

Step 3. By 'Duration', add a custom duration (e.g. 5 mins).

πŸ’‘ You can adjust the duration for any format, including download templates and direct video formats.

Exporting the total training time

  1. From Control > Users, use the three-dot menu to access the Export users option.

  2. Click on "Create a new export".

  3. Select the group(s) you want to include.

  4. Choose whether to include total training time. You can also select Yes, with customised dates to filter by timeframe.

  5. Click on "Request export".

Your request will now be displayed in the export overview under 'Users Exports' with an 'In progress' label. Once the export is done, you can download it from the overview.

SCORM packages and LTI tools

SCORM Packages

For SCORM content, the platform considers time as active as long as the SCORM tab within the LXP is visible (i.e., not hidden or minimized). Unlike standard activities, we do not detect idle behavior such as lack of mouse movement or scrolling.

  • If a learner switches tabs or minimizes the window, that time is logged as inactive.

  • If the SCORM stays open and the tab is visible, all time is counted as active, regardless of user interaction.

LTI Tools

LTI content is launched externally (outside the LXP), so we do not track time for LTI-based activities.

  • We rely on the LTI provider (e.g., an external learning tool) to handle time tracking and progress reporting.

Good to know πŸ‘€

  • Deleted users are not included.
Once a user is removed from the platform, their data is no longer available. To avoid missing records, we recommend exporting data regularly (for example, monthly).

  • Selecting a time frame is required.
If you want to export all available data, choose custom date and set a start date before your platform's go-live date.

  • Exports take time.
It may take a while to generate the file. Keep the export page open and refresh it occasionally while you wait.

Want More Detailed Insights?

If you enable the Training Type feature, you can track how much time users spend on formal vs. informal learning.

This helps evaluate the impact and engagement level of different types of content.

Read on to learn how to enable and access this data.
