Content Guideline for the Smart Examination Format

With an examination you can test the learner’s knowledge about a certain topic. As for the learning bite you can add templates to the examination, the key difference being that the examination only contains validated questions (i.e. questions that can be answered correctly or wrong) and no informative templates like the text media. The smart examination is different than the Examination format because it has capabilities like a re-usable question database, random sampling of questions from various folders/categories, examination time limits, retry limits and various options for either hiding or showing examination feedback. The smart exam is the most flexible and smart format available in Growth platform.

Fields

Below fields can be filled into the content builder.
​Content ID*

A unique identifier for the activity. Only shown in the content builder.

Title (text only)*

This is the activity title shown within the activity, as well as on the activity tile and spotlighted activity (if applicable).

Image*

Image uploader for JPG, PNG, GIF. Shown on the activity tile and spotlighted activity (if applicable).

Number of attempts allowed (number)*

This number determines the amount of attempts each learner gets to complete this exam. If you specify it as zero (0), each learner will have unlimited retries.

Threshold (number)*

A number between 0 and 100 that determines the minimal percentage of questions the learner needs to answer correctly to pass this examination.

Leitner (number)

Leitner factor

Time limit (number)

Add a timer (in minutes) to the exam. If the time runs out, the learner’s progress is saved and calculated for the answered questions, the unanswered ones are counted as ‘incorrect’ automatically.

Enable skip

If enabled learners can postpone a question to answer it later in the exam

Duration (number)

Estimated duration of this exam in minutes. Shown on the activity tile.

Question groups

Select the folder(s) in your examination database to include in this examination.

Question folder*

Select a page of the type "Question Database Folder" where questions will be randomly selected from.

Number of questions to present to the user (number)*

The number of questions included when a learner attempts the examination. They will be randomly selected from all questions.

Tags

  • question bank: you can add one or more tags to questions

  • smart exam: if you add a tag filter to the smart exam, it will filter all the questions that have that tag in the question bank, the questions that don’t have the corresponding tag will not appear

Result

The results page shows whether the user has passed or failed the exam.

Show question feedback

When creating a question you can enter feedback when the users answers it correctly or wrong. Enable this option to show this feedback per question to the user.
