Increase learning engagement with notifications

Send reminders to users to complete content

Is a certain activity or journey very important to you? You probably want to remind your users that they need to complete that content.šŸ’” Luckily for you, you donā€™t have to manually track who has completed it and remind those who havenā€™t. Just use automations to send notifications to those who havenā€™t completed the content yet and add the content to their to do list. āœ‰ļø

Create the reminder automation:

Use the following basic steps to create a reminder automation:

Step 1. Go to Behaviour > Automations in TinQwise Control

Step 2. Create a new Automation

Step 3. Give the Automation a name and choose Check periodically

Step 4. Add the conditions that a user needs to meet in order to get this in their to-do list (e.g. user needs to be in specific groups, or 30 days after their contract start date).

Step 5. In Actions first select the action Add to to-do list

  • Choose Recipients: user

  • Choose User source: event > user (any user who meets the conditions)

  • Choose to attach the to do item to a activity or activity container (= journey or section)

  • Leave the Activity (container) source at self

  • Select the journey you want to put on the list

  • If you want to make this journey mandatory, check the box for Is mandatory

  • Optionally add a due date.

Step 6. In Actions then select the action Notify user

  • Give the notification a subject by using the Title field

  • Add the content of your notification to the Message field

  • Optionally also add an e-mail message by checking the send_email box

  • Add an e-mail message: the greeting is automatically included

  • Select ā€˜Notification (Global)ā€™ as e-mail template

  • Select ā€˜userā€™ as Recipients

  • Select ā€˜event -> userā€™ as User source

Step 7. Save the action and automation

šŸ’” Note: A notification with an open-ended time condition, such as a last login more than 31 days ago, goes out to everyone past the threshold as soon as you enable the automation. Check the number of matching users with the eye icon first, or add an end to the timespan (for example 31d to 32d) so only users who cross the line from then on are notified. Each user receives the notification once, so someone who comes back and goes quiet again is not notified a second time.
