The platform access setting defines whether access to the platform is managed (through admins and/or integrations), open (everyone can register) or closed.

Admins can edit the platform access through Settings > General.

The first column is for all "Platform invites" settings. The first one changes your platform's name, the second one is for platform access, and the third one determines the invite expiry period.

We use the second tab from these platform invites settings to change the platform access. The "Current mode" shows what your platform access is currently set to.

Click on the blue pencil on the right upper corner. This will open up the platform access settings. Select the type of how you want your learners to make an account.

1) Managed platform

If your platform is set to "managed", you can add your learners either manually by an admin or through integrations.

2) Open platform

Open platforms allow anyone to make an account and access the content. Learning bites can be shared externally via a public link if your platform is open.

This feature is designed to maximise your content reach with an open platform to grow your e-learning community worldwide. When learners visit an open platform they have not registered to, they will see up to the first 3 templates and be prompted to register.

On open platforms, an activity can be set to "private" in the activity details if you don't want to let unregistered users preview it.

Feature setup required for open platforms:

Once you adjust the platform access setting to "open", you should also visit the Features tab to complete your setup.

Find the "Hide registration fields" from the list of features. Enable it and select the fields for the signup page.

Note that email and password are necessary to log in to a platform. Therefore, we recommend setting email addresses to be required for the registrations for an open platform.
