The Upload File template allows learners to upload documents safely onto the platform. These documents can be in various formats such as pictures, videos, or other files.

Setting it up

Content ID*

A unique title for the activity. Only shown in the content builder.

Supertitle (text only)

The supertitle is shown above the main title and has a different colour.

Title (text only)*

This field is for the main title of the upload file template.

Description (rich text)

You can also add a description or introductory text. This text supports bulleted or numbered lists, hyperlinks, bold and italic texts.

Files

You can add up to 5 fields for files. Each field includes the following items:

  • Title (text only)*: the title of the file that needs to be uploaded. This title is used for analytics, invisible to the learner.

  • Checkbox “optional”: ticking this box enables the learner to continue without uploading a file.

  • Label (text only): a label for the file.

  • Allowed document formats per file: ticking these checkboxes allows learners to upload specific types of files. For example, if you want to receive only pictures, you can tick the “allow images files” for image formats such as .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .gif.

Please note that at least one of the file uploads should be required (not optional) for the template to work correctly.

Comment section

  • Title (text only)*: this title is used for analytics, invisible to the learner. This can be the same as the title of the upload.

  • Checkbox “enable comment”: ticking this box enables the learner to write a text on the files they upload.

  • Placeholder: this is a placeholder text for the input field. An example could be “Write your opinion here”.

  • Max characters: filling in this box will decide the maximum amount of characters that the learner is allowed to use in their comment.

A small remark on the maximum size of the files: The current maximum file sizes are 5MB for images and 50MB for videos (which should be sufficient for short videos).

Inspiration for this template

You can use the upload template in the assessment flows. For example, learners submit their assignment, exam, or report that need to be graded. The trainer receives a notification after the submissions. The activity is only marked as completed once the trainer grades the assignment as passed. This is a simple example of an assessment flow.

This template is also a very good tool to increase engagement. Let’s imagine a challenge for store employees to design the best gift package idea for the holiday season. They can share a picture of a video of their design together with a story. The best ideas can later be shared with the rest of the employees. Use this template to encourage creativity while increasing engagement and motivation.
