Creating badges and setting up a skill category

TinQwise Control > Behaviour > Upskill

  1. Create a skill category

    1. Name

    2. Description

  2. Add a skill in the skill category.

    1. Skill title

    2. Skill description

    3. Badge image

    4. Completed badge image: The image that you want learners to see once they are granted a badge

    5. Call to action: The text that is shown under the skill description.

    6. Completed message: The text that is shown after badge receive.

    7. Celebration message: The text appears once a learner receives a badge.

Grant a badge

You can grant a badge after completion of a activity, a journey or a section.

Grant a badge after activity completion

  • Event (trigger): Activity is completed

  • Condition: is activity (add the activity).

    • You can also add user conditions such as Is group (select the group). This condition will limit the users who see the badge to that particular group.

  • Action: Grant badge

    • Reward: select the badge you created in Upskill in Control.

    • Set the completion date to when the last required activity was completed: Checking this box will set the badge earning the same date as the activity completion date. This feature also works retroactively. The user reporting of those who already completed all the required activities before you set the automation will automatically be updated based on their last completion date of the activity needed.

    • Recipient source: You will see three options here. We recommend selecting "event -> invite -> user". This will allow the users to automatically be granted the badge once they complete the final required activity. Select "self" if you would like to grant the badge to a single person.

  • Save your automation.

Good to know 👀

  • If you only use "or" connective, learners will see only the activities they have access to.

  • If you only use "and" connective, only learners who have access to all the activities will be able to see the badge in Upskill.

  • If you want all activities to be completed to grant a badge, use the "and" connective. If you want to create a list of activities that are alternative to each other to grant a badge, use "or" connective.

  • The completion date is added after the first time the user gets the badge granted. This date will remain the same, regardless of how many times the user completes the necessary content. This way, they will always know how long they master a skill already! The expiry date, if available, does update every time after completing the needed content.

Grant a badge after journey or section completion

  • Event (trigger): Journey/section is completed

  • Condition: is journey/section (add the journey or section).

    • You can also add user conditions such as user in group (select the group).

• Recipient source: You will see three options here. We recommend selecting "event -> user". This will allow the users to automatically be granted the badge once they complete the final required activity of a journey or section. Select "self" if you would like to grant the badge to a single person.

  • Save your automation.

☝ Note: do NOT use the 'journey/section completion' event in combination with an 'Is journey/section in event' condition.
