Adding skills to a programme

Written by Marie Xhauflair

Skills are a great way to reward learners as they work through your content. When learners see their progress recognised, they stay more motivated and engaged. More engagement means more learning, and more learning means real skill development for your team.

Use skills to mark milestones, celebrate completions, build a reward-based learning journey that keeps people coming back and to develop skills.

👀 Good to know

skills are linked to badges. Before adding a skill to a programme, make sure you have set up the relevant skill category first. Need help? Check out this article 👉 Skill feature

How to add a badge to a programme

  1. Open the programme you want to edit.

  2. Click the + icon to add a new item. You will see two options: add a new activity, or add a skill badge.

  3. Click on "Skill" and search for the badge you want to add by typing its title or description. Select it from the results.

    1. If you have not yet created the badge, you will need to set up the skill first before you can add it here.

  4. Once added, the badge will appear in the programme flow. Click the lock icon on the badge to configure when it gets awarded.

When is the badge awarded?

Clicking the lock icon opens a popup where you can choose the unlock condition.

There are two options:

  • All previous activities completed: the badge is awarded once the learner has completed all activities in the section up to that point. This is the default setting and works well for end-of-section rewards.

  • Previous activity completed: the badge is awarded as soon as the learner finishes the single activity directly before it. This is useful for more frequent rewards or step-by-step motivation throughout a programme.

Choose the option that fits your learning design, then click Save.

✏️ Tip

Want to reward learners more frequently? Place multiple skills to be awarded throughout the programme and use the "previous activity completed" trigger to give learners a boost after each key step.

Conclusion

Badges are now part of your programme. As learners complete activities, they will earn recognition automatically, keeping motivation high throughout the learning journey!
