Impact surveys are built into new programmes by default, but you can turn them on or off, edit the questions, and remove them at any point.
👀 Good to know
Since impact surveys are part of programmes, they cannot be added as a to-do list item. They will pop up before a learner starts a programmes (if enabled) and at the end of the programme.
Automations are set up automatically.
Turning impact surveys on or off
When creating a new programme
Impact surveys are enabled by default when you create a new programme.
You can toggle them off directly on the programme setup screen
👀 Good to know
Turning impact surveys on does not make them visible to learners straight away. They will only appear once the surveys are published.
✏️ Tip
For the most complete before-and-after data, keep impact surveys on from the start.
For an existing programme
You can also enable impact surveys on a programme that has already been created or is already live.
Go to the Programme in Studio
Find the impact surveys toggle and switch it on
🚧 Be careful
Adding impact surveys after a programme is already in progress will affect what data you collect.
Learners who have already started or completed the programme will not have a "before" survey on record. See How impact surveys work in programmes for a full breakdown of what each group of learners will see.
Removing impact surveys from a programme
There are two ways to remove impact surveys, depending on whether you want to keep the data.
Option 1: Unpublish the surveys (recommended)
Unpublishing is the safest option, especially if the programme is live or learners have already completed the surveys.
Unpublishing will:
Remove the surveys from the learner experience immediately
Keep any data already collected
Allow you to re-enable them later if needed
✏️ Tip
If you are not sure whether you will need the data later, unpublish rather than delete.
Option 2: Delete the surveys
You can delete impact surveys from the programme, but this is permanent.
Deleting will:
Remove both Impact survey 1 and Impact survey 2 from the programme
Delete all collected data
Require you to recreate the surveys from scratch if you want them back
The survey activities will still exist in Studio under Activities. From there, you can delete them from the platform entirely if needed.
🚧 Be careful
Only delete impact surveys if you are certain you no longer need the data or the survey structure.
