What is the Product Trainer?

  • The Product Trainer creates a quiz-like experience from a set of products pulled from your webshop or catalog.

  • Learners practice identifying the right product for a given situation and understanding why it fits, not just what it is.

The focus is on selling confidence, not just product recall. Questions are designed to help learners explain why one product is better than the alternatives, so they feel prepared in real customer conversations.

Why this learning format?

Learners often don't have strong enough product knowledge to feel confident when helping customers. This affects how well they handle sales situations, upsells, and cross-sells.

The Product Trainer solves this by making it easy to:

  • Generate practice questions from your existing product catalog

  • Repeat practice with different questions each time, so learners don't just memorize one quiz

  • Steer questions toward specific customer types and real selling scenarios, not just product facts

How to set up Product Trainer

Step 2: Enter a product type

  1. In the Product Trainer setup, enter a product query in the search field

    • For example: sunscreen

  2. Select the relevant products from the results that appear

Step 3: Configure the settings to your quiz

Set the basics for how the quiz runs:

  • Number of questions: the default is 5

  • Time per question: the default is 30 seconds

Step 4: Write additional instructions for the agent to create the quiz

The instruction field is where you shape what kind of questions get generated. This is what moves learners beyond basic recall toward real selling skills.

Use the instruction field to:

  • Describe how the questions should be asked

  • The type of scenarios your want your employees to face

  • The situations that matter most for your team

Example: For a sunscreen quiz, you could add context like:

  • "Questions should focus on a price-conscious customer who wants value for money."

  • "Questions should focus on a skincare enthusiast who is concerned about ingredients"

Tip:

These additional instructions will make this learning activity even more relevant to your learners and situations your employees face!

Tip:

You can generate a preview of the quiz. This enables you to modify the settings of the quiz you just configured above.

The types of question

Within the product trainer, there are three types of questions asked. Options include:

  • Images only

  • Images with product titles

  • Product names only

How the quiz works for learners

Once the activity is published, learners:

  1. See a question with the configured product display format

  2. Have the set amount of time to select their answer

  3. When time expires, see the correct answer with an explanation of why each answer is right or wrong

The questions are AI-generated and randomized, so learners get a different set of questions each time they practice!
