👀 Good to know
Impact surveys are designed specifically for programmes. They work as a pop-up modal, similar to mood surveys.
This means they cannot be added to to-do items or used outside of a programme context. The modal is triggered automatically at the right moment in the learner journey.
The two survey versions (before and after)
Every programme with impact surveys enabled has two linked surveys:
Impact survey 1 appears before the programme content begins
Impact survey 2 appears after all journeys are completed
🚧 Be careful
These two surveys are always linked. Any edits you make to Impact survey 1 are automatically applied to Impact survey 2.
This ensures learners are answering the same questions before and after, so your data stays comparable.

What learners see
The experience depends on where a learner is in their programme journey when impact surveys are enabled and where the impact survey is in the programme as well.
Learners starting a new programme
In the situation below:
Impact survey 1 appears before they can access any content.
They must complete the impact survey before week 1 and week 2 are unlocked.
Impact survey 2 unlocks only after all journeys are completed
✏️ Tip
This flow gives you the most complete before-and-after data. For best results, enable impact surveys before any learners start the programme.
Learners who already completed the programme
Adding impact surveys to a completed programme will not affect their progress or completion status.
The programme still shows as completed in their Progress tab
If they open the programme again later, they will be prompted to complete Impact survey 1
The content will be locked until they complete the first survey
👀 Good to know
This gives you some insight into returning learners, but the "before" data will be collected after the fact, so it won't fully reflect confidence at the start of learning.
Learners currently in progress
If a learner has already started the programme when impact surveys are added:
Impact survey 1 will appear as unlocked
All journeys and Impact survey 2 will be locked
Once they complete Impact survey 1, they can continue from where they left off
👀 Good to know
This offers some insight, but the "before" data won't reflect their actual starting point since they have already begun the content.
Moving impact surveys within a programme
You can reposition Impact survey 1 within a programme to better fit your learning flow.
For example, you might want learners to complete an intro journey before being asked to reflect on their confidence. In that case, you can move Impact survey 1 to sit after the intro and before the core content.
Hover over Impact survey 1 and use the arrows to move it to the desired position
🚧 Be careful
You cannot move Impact survey 1 to a position after Impact survey 2. The before/after order must always be maintained.
Moving the survey does not affect your data. Learner confidence is still tracked according to the position you have chosen.
